It's good to meet the locals when you travel abroad.
Here's a view back at Lough Acoose as we began our hike.
Long, winding road as we started to towards the Climber's Inn
And then, we're off the road again.
This was a particularly pleasant part of the hike.
We had to walk along the side of this river, going in and out of the woods and through fields as needed.
This part kinda reminded me of Cedarlands... a Boy Scout Camp in Upstate NY that was heavily forested.
Notice how narrow the path had become, and how very tall the ferns were!
And then, all of a sudden, we had another Lord of the Rings moment...

This was a heavily moss covered set of stairs that lead up and around the corner.

The picture doesn't quite convey how creepy this was.

Ancient Order of Hiberians?
There were some stretches of today's hike that were reminiscent of Yosemite, with evidence of brush fires having once swept through the area.
"What an odd looking creature."

(That's what he is thinking, looking at me.)

Blackberry bushes reaching 8 feet tall.
Our B&B for the night.

The owner was a great guy, with a very friendly dog.

The busy town of Glenbeigh.

We had a drink at a local pub (Ashes) before heading upstairs into the Towers restaurant on the right.

The view of downtown from upstairs at Towers.

We understood that the town was filled up over the weekend with a 3-day festival.
